The Women in Law Committee along with the Wellington Women Lawyers Association invite you to hear from a panel of three energetic and entertaining speakers who will discuss the importance of building your reputation and your networks – how they’ve successfully accomplished this and what they’ve learned along the way.
Come along and share a Christmas drink and nibble with fellow practitioners and listen to three experienced women in the legal profession talk about the importance of business profile and relationships.
Our speakers are:
- Karen Radich, Partner in the Employment Law team at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts. Karen heads up a number of boards and committees. She’s Convenor of the NZLS (Wellington Branch) Employment Law Committee, Vice President of the Employment Law Institute of NZ and has recently been appointed as a member of the Legal Aid Provider Selection Committee.
- Joanne Morris, member of the Waitangi Tribunal and Public Sector leader. Joanne has held a range of senior roles within the New Zealand public service. She currently chairs the Broadcasting Standards Authority and until 2004 was a foundation member of the Legal Service Agency Board. From 1994 to 1999, Joanne was a commissioner at the New Zealand Law Commission, and she chaired the 1988 Ministerial Committee of Inquiry into Pornography. Joanne was previously a senior law lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington
- Sheena Sarkar, who has recently returned to New Zealand to take up the position of Marketing Director at Simpson Grierson after 12 years’ overseas. Sheena began her career as a lawyer in a national firm before heading overseas, working as a solicitor at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. Sheena moved into the business development function while at Freshfields. In 2004 she was recruited into the Paris office of White & Case to establish the strategy and business development function for the European dispute resolution group and assume global BD responsibilities for the international arbitration group.
